Gore Quarry Circular Walk Directions from the Harp Inn
- Turn left out of the Harp Inn and continue straight, passing St Stephens church on your right, then a row of houses and bungalows on your left.
- Continue a short distance until you see the public path marker. Turn left and follow the path up hill.
- This is a short, but steep, gravel path. There is a hand rail to help with the climb if you need it.
- From the top of this path you can turn left to complete the walk in a clockwise direction – We will turn right to complete the it in an anti-clockwise direction.
- This is a woodland path with some undulations. The quarry is out of sight over the crest of the hill and is separated from the path by a fence.
- After a short time you will come to a picnic table, the only place to stop on this walk. From here you have fabulous views of Worsell Wood, Hanter Hill and the Monkey Puzzle Trees on Hergest Croft.
- Continue to follow the path around to the left until it bends right and drops down onto a road. There are just a few houses on this road so there is little traffic.
- Turn left and continue forward. When the road ends, you will pass a cemetery on your left before the path opens out into the Gore Quarry.
- Use the clearly marked pedestrian walkways and look out for traffic during hours of operation.
- You want to cut straight across to where the path re-enters the woods.
- Continue to follow the path round to your left until you reach a gate.
- The gate opens into a field where sheep often graze. From here you have an excellent view over the Radnor Valley.
- Follow the narrow path to your left, continuing until you reach a second gate.
- This is the final stretch of the walk, a wooded trail with some undulations which will return you to the steep gravel path with handrail.
- Descend this path then turn right and continue forwards to the Harp Inn and refreshing drink waiting for you.
